One of the most planned things on a homeowner's agenda is a bathroom remodel. When asked how to go about planning a bathroom remodel, homeowner's have different ideas on a good way to start.
This brings us to bathroom remodeling woe number one:
Where Do You Start?
You will be hard pressed to find just one place that has absolutely everything you need for your bathroom remodel. Some start by doing some research on their favorite home improvement sites while others visit showrooms to get a better idea and to inspire their own remodel.
People look at pictures, read articles, and see what kind of home goods are for sale, but a lot of the time, people actually don't end up buying anything online because they weren't able to first see it in person. While there aren't really any places you can go for all the stuff you need in one shot, you can still piece out what you need by visiting a lighting and flooring store and then skipping over to a plumbing warehouse.
Storing Your Materials
The next problem you may face with your bathroom remodel is finding a place to store your materials once you have decided on a direction to take. Bathrooms are one of the smaller rooms in the home, but they are also one of the more complex.
A bathroom remodel involves many different factors and each of those factors requires its own set of supplies. For example, a bathroom remodel may require a plumber, an electrician, a painter, a tiler, and even a carpenter at some point in the process. That can end up being a lot for any homeowner to manage themselves, and then it comes time to start worrying about the materials on top of it all.
Purchasing the Wrong Items
If you find materials long before you get started on your remodel and you purchase them because you don't want to miss out on a deal, you need to be well aware of what it is you are actually purchasing.
You don't want to buy all these materials, store them, and then find out when it comes time to use them that they won't work as intended. Perhaps the tile you bought a year ago on clearance was such a good deal because the tiles were uneven, or the backing had warped. This means you will need to order new materials anyway.
When purchasing items for your remodel, it might be better to purchase them as you go to help alleviate any unexpected issues like bad tile.
Not Knowing Enough
Finally, you may not know what you think you know. For example, you might not know what it is you should be looking for when purchasing a certain tile or other materials for your remodel. You may like what you see, but do you know that the materials will actually work in the space?
Many homeowners know less about home improvement than they think, and this is when having experts to fill in these knowledge gaps is so important for solving all your bathroom remodeling woes.
